Personal account of a 6-year-old British boy, narrating his travel from Sussex to Hong Kong. From Hong Kong he and his family fled to the Philippines to escape the Sino-Japanese War, but got trapped in Manila when the war broke out.
He describes life in occupied Manila, Fort Santiago (his mother was imprisoned here for a while) and internee life at Santo Tomas. (Not all of these experiences were first hand). After the war, he was repatriated to the US and returned back to England.
