Description
Personal account of a middle-level officer in the USAFFE. Written shortly after the war when his memory was fresh, this account presents a unique point of view: that of a colonel first in Fort Stoltenberg, where he witnessed the Japanese attack on Clark Field, and then in Bataan as the senior adviser to the 71st Division.
He describes the attack on Clark, the battles, life in Bataan under siege, the surrender, the Death March and prison in various camps. Graphically written, the narrative is enhanced by Caracillo’s (a West Point graduate and officer in the US Army) editing which provides background information for the general reader.
