Subject
World War, 1939-1945--Campaigns--Philippines--Bataan (Province).
Description
A thesis written for the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College as a requirement for the degree of Master of Military Art and Science in 1984. The account on the military side of the battle evaluates the operations through the army doctrines at that time. He concludes that the doctrines then were effective, particularly at the level of smaller units, since the division and higher levels had not had much experience. Blames tactical defeats as being caused by failure of officers to follow the manuals (doctrine) strictly.
