Description

Short but well-researched account of the massacre that took place in the main building of De La Salle College, on Taft Avenue in Manila, on February 12, 1945. This was one of the most gruesome atrocities committed by the Japanese in the Battle of Manila, with sixteen Christian brothers (most of them German) and twenty-five unarmed civilians (including women and children) brutally killed.

Appendices provide names of those killed (and those who survived), short biographies of the sixteen Christian brothers, and photographs of the sites (particularly the chapel) where the massacre took place. A definitive account, detailing what happened and why this gruesome event occurred. The authors interviewed several of the survivors. Originally published in 1982, this book was reprinted in 1997.
