This volume, a sequel to the Volume I, contains papers and presentations delivered in a two-day conference held at the University of Santo Tomas on August 16-17, 2005. Several presentations are by eyewitnesses, such as the keynote address by Fr. Miguel Bernad and the reminiscences of Fr. James B. Reuter and Gloria Santos.

Others are researched accounts by historians and eyewitnesses, covering plans to defend Luzon in 1941 and 1944; the collaboration issue; Japanese cultural policies; the Battle of Manila in 1945; Philippine War Crimes Trials after the war; the Atomic Bomb in the eyes of Filipinos; the German Community in Manila during the war; Baguio during World War II; the guerrilla resistance movement.
