Title

Survival and triumph : a soldier's story : historical biography of the war in the Philippines / Jaime I. Romero

Description

Biography of Tagumpay A. Nañadiego, 22-year old working college student at the start of World War II, and his experiences during the war, as a reservist called to active duty with the 2nd Regular Division and combat in Bataan. After the surrender of Bataan, Nañadiego marched the Death March, endured prison camp at Camp O’Donnell, and was released in mid-1942. He joined the guerrillas (Vera’s guerrillas) in the Bondoc Peninsula.

Most of the portions on WWII deal with other people’s experiences rather than Nañadiego's. The biography goes on to narrate Nañadiego’s postwar career in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, where he rose to become Adjutant General. Unfortunately, the book is marred by several spelling and factual errors.
