Description
Biography of an Irish Columban missionary who arrived in Mindanao in 1938. He stayed on for two generations, and was in the thick of World War II. He did not surrender to the Japanese but hid in the hill , with his parishioners joining the guerrillas. He and his fellow priests could have escaped by submarine to Australia, but he refused and remained, tending his people and becoming a guerrilla padre. Five chapters (pp. 37-56) deal with Father Cronin’s wartime experiences.
